Safety at BMFC events

Our thoughts and prayesr go out to the family of a guest that tragically passed away in the swimming pool during a party held at Radlett on Friday 27th March 2015.

Although this did NOT occur at a BMFC organised event, it does not make it any less tragic.

I have been in contact with the venue owners. They have informed me that every effort was made, by the venue owner and 6 fellow guests, to resuscitate the gentleman until the ambulance arrived. Unforyunately, he was later pronounced dead. At this stage it is felt that alcohol was a contributing factor to the accident.

This serious incident has occured despite the continued efforts of the venue owners and party organisers to ensure guest safety at all times.

In 2012, I developed an Incident Procedure that the BMFC Crew all adhere to. Given the recent incident, I believe it is important that I share this with you to assure you that we take your safety seriously whilst attending our events.

Following on from the recent incident at Radlett, I now find it necessary to be more assertive when challenging guests whom I feel have consumed too much alcohol and are a potential danger to themselves or others.

I will now not hesitate to remove any guest, for their own safety and for the safety of fellow guests, who is felt to be intoxicated to a degree that would make them unsafe to themselves or others.

I have always been of the opinion that too much alcohol in a sex related environment is a heady cocktail but, throw water into the mix and it could be fatal.

I accept that some members may feel this approach is unnecessary. However, it is imperative that my main priority  remains your safety whilst you are a guest at our events.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation

Helen
